I photograph mothers, makers, and women in the middle of becoming — in the places that feel like home. Sometimes that's a kitchen, sometimes a studio, a favourite street, the beach, or a quiet corner where you simply feel like yourself.

WHAT IS ENVIRONMENTAL PORTRAIT

An environmental portrait is made in the place that belongs to you. It tells more than a posed photo ever could, because the space is part of the story. I photograph people within their natural environment: home, studio, garden, favourite corner of the city, workspace. Wherever life actually happens.

"I came to photography first through architecture, and later through becoming a mother."
Architecture taught me how to really look at a space, a body of light, a body in time. Motherhood changed what I noticed. It made me less interested in perfection and more drawn to presence, connection and the everyday moments. It was also when I began to see women differently.
I'm Alisa, based in Adelaide. I work across digital and analog. Most of my work is with mothers, makers, and women navigating change.
I'm also the founder of Ladies Art Club, a community art circle for women in Adelaide. Whether I'm photographing someone in their home, studio, on a favourite street, or gathering women around a gallery table, it's always about the same thing: creating space where women feel seen, without needing to perform.
